All Music on External Drive

I have attached my 2TB external drive, created the KJams folder and added the music folders to the KJams Music folder within. I have created the alias to the KJams folder on my local hard drive within the Music folder. I must be missing something because when I run a search for an Artist nothing is returned. Please advise. Thank you

basically: never ever touch the "kJams Music" folder
