Seeing a singers history

Is there a way to see a singers history without opening kJams

Not without writing a program to do it, no.

Well, kinda:
Export your database with ID tags sorted, open in spread sheet.
Open History XML in text editor, or Smile.
Search in database for matching IDs to identify track names.

basically: it's not possible unless you're a programmer or have a programmer's mind and can do spreadsheets and lots of lookups.
