Application Not Working on Mac - Songs Not Playing/Ripping

I was trying to use the free version on my Mac (running Mavericks) to play/backup a few Party Tyme discs. Each time I click a song, it plays for anywhere from 5-60 seconds, and then will basically freeze and tell me there is an I/O error and maybe the disc is scratched. I am using brand new discs, and no matter which of the 6 I choose, I am still seeing this error and can't play through any of the songs.

I wanted to but the full version, but I can't risk $40 if it can't play through a single song... Help!

I am running an iMac with the built in disc player. Thanks.

This is not a problem with kJams, it is a problem with the drive and or the disks

try going into preferences and turning on the checkbox that says "ignore CDG ripping errors"
