M4V Playback Issue

Post by ukrist »

Hi,

Wondering if you could help, I've searched the forum, but didn't find an answer

I have just recently converted some karaoke DVDs to MP4/M4V files, but the video playback of them in KJams 1.0b3 is choppy.

I run on a Mac Book Pro on OSX 10.7.5, have lots of disc space, with 8GB DDR3 memory and a 2.53 i5 CPU

I have no other programmes on, the videos play perfectly in quicktime outside of KJams. The settings in preferences are all deselected, and I have the cache set up for 60 songs.

This is the case in normal size screen mode and fullscreen

Any ideas?

Cheers

did you rip them as HD? ie: 1080p? or 720p?

try instead to rip them as SD (480p or 240p).

kJams currently is NOT optimized to play back HD video, there's nothing you can do about it. I'll be fixing that after 1.0

Hello,

All the videos are 640x480 already as they are ripped from some of my karaoke DVDs so not HD

Could I send you a video to see if its a compatibility problem some other way?

Cheers

I have copied one to your FTP to the root directory called 'Test Video from ukrist.mp4'

Many thanks

your video was not encoded very well. i've re-encoded it in 2 ways: 1 is better, the other is best. try them both.

The best one works great!

What programme and setting did you use to encode it?

Thanks for all your help

I used QuickTime Player 7
file->export, pick "movie to mpeg4"
Screen Shot 2013-04-03 at 2.20.03 PM.png
then click Options, then set these settings:
