synch slipping

Post by franks »

Does kJams remember the amount of synch slip that might be applied to a song?

It seems that if I play other songs in the library, they are all out of sync after I slip synch the one song..

I notice that somehow the global sync amount is present on all songs although all other songs indicate that there is no slip individually on the song.

When i eliminate the global synch, then all the library songs(including the individual song originally synch slipped) goes back to zero song slip condition.

This is not what I desire, I just need the individual song(or songs) that I slip to remember the slip amount just like the pitch bending is remembered.

Am I missing something??

yup

that means you turned on Global slipping, and not Song slipping.

umm, right! that means you've already figured it out? turn OFF global slipping, and instead use Song slipping.

well, no, actually it goes back to Zero Global Slipping. Any Song slipping still applies to songs.

Yes, when I use the menu item synch control commands, the synching is as you say.

But when I use the keyboard shortcut control command keys, the result is as I stated in my initial post.

Maybe you can double check and maybe determine if I have a hang up somewhere. thnx

let's say I want to slip a song whose nenu item synching-controls read:
"global slip= 0.00 seconds"
"global no slip" checked!
"song no slip" checked!

I slip the song forward, say 0.5 sec using the keyboard (option key+=).

After the successful slipping, the synch-slipping menu item controls read:
"global slip= 0.50 seconds"
"global no slip" un-checked!
"song no slip" checked!

I don't know how much more precise I can be!

Start the song. Song starts.
<<Hit Rewind to beginning. Press yes in the permission window.
The song starts and plays totally in-synch.

I think I understand what you're saying, but that's not what worries me. If I do what you say, then every song that I play has to be rewinded, becuse tne problem is if you synch only one(1) song, the entire kJams library becomes GLOBALLY synched when you use the keyboard shortcuts! If you use the controls menu selection for the synching then everything is OK!

Give it a try, it doesn't take more than 10 seconds. It's not worth a 3 hr discussion... just try and see if you get this global synching bugeroo.

My work around is not very handy or quick but is adequate, I just use the menu controls for synching since I synch only infrequently.

Again thanks for your inputs.

However I am curious as to whether anyone else is experiencing or can duplicate this same problem.

will you PLEASE PLEASE just call me so i can straighten this out? It seems that your Global Slipping is somehow getting set, not Song Slipping.

I have tested song and global slipping separately, on both mac and windows, and i can testify that they both work perfectly as advertised for me. so i NEED to see your machine in order to solve this problem for you.

please call during office hours, my number is listed on that page.
