Importing with my CD+G player
Importing with my CD+G player
Hi there,
I have spent all afternoon trying to figure out how to import from my CD+G player to my Macbookpro. I have an RC to USB cord and I can't figure out how to import the songs from the player. Let alone get the computer to recognize the USB plug.
Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance, Mike.

Re: Importing with my CD+G player
nothing can be done if you can't plug the drive into the computer, so you'll have to solve that first.
what do you mean by "get the computer to recognize the USB plug"?

Re: Importing with my CD+G player
Hi Dave,
I am using a USB audio interface from my player. Maybe not getting it to recognize the USB plug (the connection to my MBP) is not the best description, I don't know how to download the music to my hard drive so I can import it to Kjams.
Sorry for the confusion,
Mike

Re: Importing with my CD+G player
what is the make and model of your CD+G player?
Re: Importing with my CD+G player
JVC XL-MV303.
Re: Importing with my CD+G player
i am quite sure that that player is not intended to connect to a computer.
you need an actual CD *drive* that can read CD+G discs.

Re: Importing with my CD+G player
Thank you Dave, I was hoping that I had found a work around.
I never thought that it wouldn't work.

Re: Importing with my CD+G player
Dave, what I meant was that I didn't realize that I would need more than just a CD+G player to get my computer to recognize it. I thought that if I could pach the player with an interface to my computer it would be fine.
Any who, I am going to pick up one of the drives on your list so I can use your Pro version.
Thank you for your help and great customer service.

Re: Importing with my CD+G player
Hi Dave,
I have purchased a set of karaoke cd+g discs to rip to the kjams program on my MacBook Air and I am using an external LG drive. This issue I am having is that I am not able to rip the disc as a whole. When I am able to rip it the program will only allow me to rip one song at a time. Typically the program will crash and then it might save the song to the library. For example on a disc I was able to burn 15 out of 18 songs but it took almost an hour to do. Is there an easier more effective method to rip these songs to the program?

Re: Importing with my CD+G player
you are mistaken. there is no design in "the program [that] will only allow [you] to rip one song at a time". why do you say that? if there is a bug in the program that causes a crash during ripping, this is obviously NOT how the program was *designed* to work, so if all you mean is "there is a bug" then your comments make a little more sense.

Re: Importing with my CD+G player
FTR Mike981 I suspect you can cannibalise the drive from that CD+G player and just stick it in an external enclosure, and hook it up via USB. Done.
Re: Importing with my CD+G player
Wow DeusExMachina, if I knew what you were saying I would give it a go. Sorry but that is over my head.
Re: Importing with my CD+G player
he means "take the player apart with a screw driver, extract the drive mechanism, and install it in an external enclosure that you buy from amazon". the external enclosure is just an empty box that has a drive connector on the inside (for your drive mechanism), and a USB plug on the outside. then you'll have a compatible drive.

Thank you Dave.
