ripping a bunch of discs

Post by randyj »

Dave is not responding to posts or emails. I hope this is a GOOD sign (like he's actually spending the weekend away from his Mac)

:)

I was hoping to rip a bunch of discs this weekend. But the latest version crashes after ripping about 3 discs. I've tried the basics, like increasing cache size, and tried a couple of other recent versions, still crashing after 2 to 4 discs.

So this is addressed to anyone who has ripped a bunch of discs lately:
what version are you using?

Thanks! :)

did you try:
d49r19

i bet that'll work fine

however: don't go editing too much meta data at once, be sure to force save (command-option-shift-S) after all pushes. and probably a good idea to quit and re-run after a big push.

Is this by any chance an assert fail with a message like "trying to tell a CD it's not a CD"?

Because I just ran into that one. Works fine for the first disc, fails on the second, restarting the program it works again for one disc, not for the second.

If that's different than what Randy is talking about, let me know and I'll send a log file.

that's my top bug at the moment.
can you reliably reproduce that?
with the very latest version?
it's now supposed to ask you if you would like to send a crash report.
please let me know.

same as jfbiii
rip 1 (or 2?) discs ok, then "cd is not a cd" assert

it was interesting to watch it:
it stopped RIPPING part-way thru the disc
the task window still showed 2 tasks in progress:
-encoding a track (still running)
-sorting by song name (stuck with barber-pole)

as soon as the encoding task ended, I got the assert

I let it crash both times, and am sending 2 reports

I noticed the cache was close to full the first time. Cleared it. Next time it crashed, it's also very close to full. (mine is set at 40 songs)

I froze my updates several days ago until after my shows this weekend. I'll update and report back this coming week.

Thanks for the prompt fixes! :)

Dave-

I'm running d49r24 and it ripped a bunch of discs, no troubles.
I hope my crash reports helped.
kJams is getting awesome-r by the day.

Thanks for the quick fix! -randy j
