Stuck saving database on deletes

Steps are as follows:

1) Activity window shows pull meta activties or push meta activities in background
2) A few songs are deleted from the database using delete key (references only)
3) It takes a very long time for delete to complete or a force quit

Using external USB drive. Is it getting stuck due to disk IO/read/write operations?

i recommend you wait until all push/pull tasks complete before you do anything else.

also: use firewire800 or thunderbolt, cuz USB is terrible.
