new version/update

Feel free to post bug reports here. I need exact, detailed steps showing me how I can re-create the bug on my machine, so give as much info and detail as possible.

new version/update

Post by natblend »

I've never had trouble with updates until now.
I'm on an older macbook pro, running Lite 52r51
I've downloaded the update, (now is 52r56?)
It downloads and unzips fine, but it won't boot up. It looks like it tries for 1 second.
I'm always able to drag the older version out of the trash, it runs fine.
Any ideas?
I looked for 52r53, thinking I was to far behind in updates. I couldn't find any.

Thanks, Dave
Macbook Pro
2.33 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
OsX 10.4.11

I've done many, many updates with no problem.
I'm stuck on this one

try a downgrade:

fyi: i'da had that fixed but my ONLY machine capable of running 10.4 died. i ordered a new HD but it won't arrive for another month. i'll try to fix it then.

you really should update to a newer OS anyway?

I was told by a the local Mac "whiz", that my older (2007) MacBook Pro wouldn't take a newer OS, 10.4.11 was the end of the line, and I had to buy a new one. Can't do that.
If you have time, could you post my best OS options? thanks.
I'll hold of updating Kjams for awhile.

wow, what a load of crock that is! he's either an idiot or just ignorant, but either way he should not be advising you.

You can run 10.7 Lion on that computer. Go ahead and upgrade.

meanwhile, i HAVE fixed the build so it's working again, i'll put up a rogue today.

The machines stuck at earlier OSes are the Core Duos. The Core 2 Duos are fine. Dave is right, the guy's an idiot (or at least so ignorant that he should not be giving Mac advice).

Yes, yes, sorry, Snow Leopard is the 32-bit cut off. I get the numbers mixed up, they have been coming out so fast lately.
