Simple, straightforward.
I.e., as you type, a popup is populated with matches in the current venue (or even better, all venues).
This allows you to:
enter singers faster (rather than having to select venue, select search field, then type)
enter names faster
catch name collisions prior to having to re-edit the field
emulate the paradigm in several other programs (e.g., ComputHost) to ease switching.
etc..
Of course, this is much more useful with fast search, but I suspect that most people's venue DBs will be small enough that the time differential in the UI will be negligible.
