Remove duplicate songs from library only

Is there any way to remove duplicate entries from the main Library? These are not duplicate files on the hard drive, they both point to the same song file, but they are listed twice in the Library because I accidentally imported them twice into my Library. I read the info about removing duplicates, but it seems to be for duplicate files.

I thought of maybe deleting all the songs from my Library and then reimporting them all, but that makes the custom playlists empty out as well and I don't want to do that (unless there is some way to back up and restore custom play lists).

there is no way to auto-select them, but you can try to select them yourself then pick "edit->remove from library"

Hmmmm....there are thousands of duplicates. Selecting the dupes and deleting them manually - oy, that's a lotta work.

Is there any way to export the contents of a custom playlist?

you can do file->export->entire playlist: original files

but i'm not sure what that will get you

you COULD sort by date and just select everything added on that date?
