Re-interpret names configuration

Is kJams missing a feature you need? Post it here! Note: if iTunes has it but kJams doesn't, it's a good bet kJams will have it, but that I just haven't gotten around to it yet. But go ahead and request it anyway!

Re-interpret names configuration

Post by fishmongr »

The Re-interpret names custom template ability is awesome but I am finding myself not able to do everything I need to do.
For example all my artist names for a particular sub-set has the publisher's abbreviation appended in square brackets with the artist name.
I'd like to not have to remove these by hand but am having some trouble doing this outside of kJams as they are all in separate zips that kJams already works through.
Would it be possible to have a way of removing N number of characters from the end of the artist name on a large selection of artists?
It would be very powerful if Re-interpret supported regular expressions.
Thanks,
Mark

well, for now i've added support for square brackets in the template. this will be available in the next release.

eg: if the name is "album - song name - artist name [some extra text]"

you could use this as a template: "L - S - R "

the "I" means "ignore"

Would have been nice if this had been available before I "wrote an app for that!"
(unzips, renames, rezips)
