Seven Bridges Road (Eagles), Best Version?

Post by MacOCD »

I'm looking to replace my version of "Seven Bridges Road - The Eagles". I currently only have the Backstage Karaoke version, it's not the worst track BSK have done, but I'm sure there are better ones out there.

I've been told that the Sound Choice version is excellent, but with all the trouble with Sound Choice I don't really want to buy any of their tracks, even though my karaoke is currently non-commercial. Besides, Sound Choice discs are not easy to find online these days anyway.

Can I ask some opinions on the best alternative version to buy? The previews on the sellers sites don't really give me enough time to work out which is the most authentic.

I'd appreciate some opinions,

Thanks,
Mark.

To answer my own question...

I've found Stingray Karaoke, a company I'd not heard of before but all other site sounds great from the previews I've tried. Are they a decent company? I've not sen much mentioned about them recently.

Their Seven Bridges Road sounds pretty good from the preview.

FYI, Stingray=Sound Choice=Karaoke Channel. They license their back catalogue, and have the same owners. Sound Choice was owned by Kurt and Derek Slep, Stingray by Derek.

Also, IIRC, FWIW, Stingray does not license their tracks for public performance.

That's a shame :(

I actually bought some tracks from Stingray just hours before your reply, fortunately not many. Looks like I'll be replacing those too.

I don't actually run a commercial karaoke, I do it for fun, I don't charge anything, it's almost permanently at my house, but I do have a party a few times a year at our local village club for my friends & neighbours. I couldn't fit them all in my home. I don't charge anything, I don't pay for the room, I don't have a tips jar, it's entirely a fun thing I do to keep in touch with friends & neighbours, and to make use of a community space that's severely under used.

Despite this I have worked hard to keep my collection legal, I have no pirated content what so ever, everything is from discs I've personally bought & online purchases. I keep all the discs & receipts with my kit.

I just wasted some money it seems. I'll buy the karaoke-version track of Seven Bridges Road today, it's not quite as good, but I can't support companies that seek to sell something that's used almost entirely for shared public entertainment, and supply it with a condition hidden deep within their T&C that prohibits it's use for this purpose.

I did take a look at the T&C, just not carefully enough it seems. There's nothing in the "Limited Licence" section, it's tucked away in the "Rules of Conduct" part of the T&C.

Thanks for the warning,

Mark.
