kfn

Just talk about kJams stuff with each other, describe things you did that worked, talk about your setup, anything that doesn't fit into the other forums!

KaraFun files may be in a proprietary format. Do you know if it is? Can you send me one?

Hi, I'am also interested to use kfn (karafun) files with kjams.
What do you mean with "proprietary format"?
Or is it possible to convert the kfn-files in an format which kjams is capable to support?
Best Wishes, Moothor

a "proprietary format" in this context is a file format for which the specification is not published by the creator, creating a situation where users of such software must continue to use said software forever, since there is no legal, published way to convert from their "locked, closed" format to an "open" format, such as a QuickTime format or the CDG format. (Technically the CDG format is also proprietary, however it has been successfully reverse engineered and published), In this case it is necessary to reverse-engineer the format in order to be able to read it. I've never seen a KFN file, so i do not know how difficult it would be to reverse engineer.

As I said, please send me a couple of these files and I'll have a look-see.

i got some files and no i can't read them, sorry.

my advice: throw them away and use open standards like MP3+G, if we all stop using DRM's products, then they will stop MAKING DRM's products.

i only said i "started work" on it, not that it is done. basically I have got all the info i need to support the current version of the KFN file format. Note there are older versions of the format which will NOT be supported, without lots of whining, er, feature requests about it.

if even ONE more person chimes in here that they want KFN files, i'll "work on it" more.

I have 3 T_T I really hope there's a way because I don't want to spend 67USD on their app when I have purchased KJams Pro already. I plan on buying more since they offer A LOT of high quality and especially Glee songs from their website.

If there's an alternative converter please tell me too ^^
