I run kJams on my iMac, with output going to an external mixer. My microphones are plugged into that mixer.
But I see there are options in kJams to control microphone volume. I'm curious. Do people here use microphones to feed to their computers? If so, how do you do it, and how does it effect their karaoke sessions?
Does anybody use microphones to input to their Mac?

you can plug the mic into the audio jack of the mac (it is a jack that supports audio both in and out)
the problem with that is that it introduces latency to the singer's voice, so it comes out the speakers a fraction of a second AFTER they sing, possibly causing unbearable cognitive dissonance.
YMMV. definitely best to plug the mics directly into the mixer.
