Window not disappearing after song ends

Just talk about kJams stuff with each other, describe things you did that worked, talk about your setup, anything that doesn't fit into the other forums!

Window not disappearing after song ends

Post by Steve Lynch »

Hi dave!

I have been using d47r10 for a while, and I dipped in yesterday, and got the latest version. (seems there's been many since then... guess I need to check in more often)

after install i had a million errors, so i wiped it clean, and started again from scratch...

now i can't get the window to hide at the end of a song like it did in the version where you implemented that feature.

I've tried every historical build and can't get the feature back...

in prefs, i have pause between songs, and auto full screen checked

in the video window, i have always on top and hide checked

when a song ends, it just leaves a black screen behind....

If I manually pause it, the window disappears like it's supposed to... But the software doesn't seem to be pushing the pause button hard enough or something! :)

any suggestions? It won't let me roll back to the version I was using...

I'm kinda' dead in the water here...

Thanks Dude, I appreciate any help you can muster up!

my bad. *sigh* this is why i need testers.

there will be a fix on sunday's release.

what do you mean "it won't let me roll back"? Just download the previous version.

the previous version for me was the first build to implement the feature...

the database structure has changed since then I guess, because it tells me that I have to upgrade to a newer revision when I try to re-install the old version.

If you need testers, I'm happy to run it through the paces as long as I know all of the key features, and operations we need tested.....

I'd even be happy to make a test sheet for others to follow. I can't make it my full time job because I have twins on the way in a matter of a week or so.., but I'm pretty well versed in the ways of beta abuse, and would like to help.

when i make a DB format change, i always overlap several versions. that means you can incrementally go backwards. note: the kJams "version" and the database "version" are two entirely different and UN-related numbers.

eg:

version 5 -> reads / writes db v7 only
version 6 -> reads db v7 & 8, writes db v7
version 7 -> reads db v7 & 8, writes db v7
version 8 -> reads db v7 & 8, writes db v7
version 9 -> reads / writes db v8 only

so to go from version 9 to version 5, you have to first load it up in version 6, 7, or 8 and re-save the db

does this make sense?

Dave, is that feature broken, or am I doing something wrong?
r10 shows that the feature was added in that build, yet it doesn't actually show up until r11

That is the build I was using prior to installing the new version.

now when I go back to r11, the auto hide feature still doesn't work?

it's more like i broke it.

would you mind checking yours to see if it's the software, or me?

I didn't change anything i don't think....

I'm so confused now....

I should have left well enough alone, but Noooooooo!

no you're right, the auto pause did not actually hide the window. i'll fix that too.

Thanks...

Smokin' latest version though... you've really been busy with the new features...

I really dig the way it works now... very easy!
