Feedback on Airport Express as kJams router

Just talk about kJams stuff with each other, describe things you did that worked, talk about your setup, anything that doesn't fit into the other forums!

Feedback on Airport Express as kJams router

Post by reddroki »

Hi all,

We're currently using a Linksys WRT54G wireless router and I'm getting the feeling it is heading slowly into the bit bucket.
So, which brings me to a question or two:
• Would the Airport Express (current model) work as a wireless access point in venues where there isn't an open wireless access point?
• Has anyone used the old Airport Express in this capacity? (that's the model that hung off of the wall via it's power plug, currently a good deal at the Apple Refurb Store).
• I assume we could follow the directions elsewhere on this site to create an Ad-Hoc network with either. Is that correct?
• If you have used it, does it work well with wtkJams app?

We just want to set up the PA and plug the router into the wall and have it work consistently with the two iOS apps, wtkJams (preferred) or iJams (when the former doesn't work and that seems to be in venues where we have to use the above Linksys).

Thank you for any feedback and have a Great Thanksgiving y'all! :D

kind regards,
Mark & Anita

AirPort Express should work just fine, yes.
old one will work too.
an APE is NOT an ad-hoc network. it's a real network.
works great with wtkJams

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the quick reply. Black Friday is coming and I hope to score one or two of the old Airport Express. Have a great Thanksgiving and don't eat too much turkey or if that's not on the plate, then not too much tofuta-turkey! 8^)

cheers!
