Recording in Garageband

Recording in Garageband

I tried recording a song in GB last night. I can only hear the vocals through the left side of my headphones causing it hard to hear the vocals. I tried turning the vocal volume all the way up while playing back. i also tried turning the master volume down during recording. I am using a 1/4" female to 1/8"male adapter for my mic, could it be a mono adapter? How can i tell? Should the input be set to stereo in GB or mono? Any suggestions on what it could be? Cheers

input should be set to mono.
