That looks fishy. Do you have your Library on an external? Looks from that as if you do. The script as written won't work. You'll have to modify it. Try changing that line to the following:
set kJamsPath to "/Volumes/DJ Drive/kJams/kJams Library/"
set kJamsPath to "/Volumes/DJ Drive/kJams/kJams Library/"

Yes, my library is on an external.DeusExMachina wrote:That looks fishy. Do you have your Library on an external? Looks from that as if you do. The script as written won't work. You'll have to modify it. Try changing that line to the following:

Let me know if the above edit fixes things.

Works PERFECTLY now...thank you so much. I HATED when people from other venues walked in...took an extra 10 mins to get the alisas right...DeusExMachina wrote:Let me know if the above edit fixes things.

Re: Weird issue with Numark DJ/IO and iTunes/kJams Crossfade
Yeah, that's why I wrote this. Drove me crazy when I had to go through that dance to copy them over:
Finder:
Go to Singer's venue, find singer, make an alias, drag folder to the current venue, rename to remove "alias"
kJams:
Change venue
Change back to original venue to force kJams to reload venue.
Took forever (thought I suspect ten minutes is a bit extreme).
FYI, a little bird told me that some day, in the distant future, the venueing system will be totally rearchitected, with all singers in a common pool, and venues just linked to singers in that pool, and will be much faster, but that is a ways off.

Well thanks again. The singer pool is surely a great idea. I do wish I was better at coding to rewrite the search. Once you get over 150k tracks, it takes forever to search! It's a small price to pay for stability. Loving this system on my Mac so much better than my PC.
Thanks!

searching won't get faster, but will suddenly get A LOT better in the next release.
Re: Weird issue with Numark DJ/IO and iTunes/kJams Crossfade
i tried switching between every single venue in your list, and did not crash.
can you reproduce the crash now? using the latest version?

Dave:
FTR, I crash too on occasion when switching venues, even submitted several crash reports. This happens both with my script and without it (though more often without it, so I suspect it might be a timing issue).

It's totally random. I cannot reproduce it on command...which is why I submit reports
I did use the script last night at a gig and had no issues. I will be using it tonight as well I am sure.

Re: Weird issue with Numark DJ/IO and iTunes/kJams Crossfade
okay, well, FYI, i really can't act on a bug that is random. An actionable bug is one i can reproduce. Still, it is helpful to get the report anyway. Sometimes if enough "random" reports come in i can start to see a pattern. Unfortunately, the only pattern i have seen from your reports is that they all happen when switching venues, but nothing more than that. If you can narrow down the pattern, please let me know and i'll look further into this
Re: Weird issue with Numark DJ/IO and iTunes/kJams Crossfade
OK Dave. Thanks for trying. Incidentally, I still can't use the Numark External DJ/IO card for both iTunes and kJams output with the crossfade script. Eventually, all audio out still stops w/kJams.
Thanks!

sadly, without one to test with, i won't be able to fix this. i've tried other external audio and it seems to work

Re: Weird issue with Numark DJ/IO and iTunes/kJams Crossfade
FWIW, this definitely sounds like an issue with the Numark driver, not kJams. I would submit a bug report to them.
