fixing mic lag, or delay

Hi,

I'm new to this karaoke from a Mac. Everything is working fine, BUT.... There is a delay between actually speaking into the mic and it coming out of the speaker. Is there a way to "close the gap" on this? Is this what "Sync-Slipping" is for? (It doesn't seem to make a difference.

I am using a usb mic through iMic on a MacBook Pro.

I use a mini mixer by Behringer, this eliminates any delay and gives you echo and two inputs/ volume controls for your mics. I think you can buy the mixer for $35 online. I'm not sure what others are doing.

Hi Dave, when you added the Microphone capability and level control slider to kjams you said there would be lots of delay and there was/is. Are you working on an update to address the issue of delay? I hoped that when I upgraded to a new macbook pro 3.06 and 7200 rpm drive running 10.6.2 and 4 gigs memory that the delay might be lessened but it hasn't; any thoughts?

yes i know, it's on my list to fix, i definitely will be fixing this.

same status as before. it's pretty low priority compared to crashing bugs and new features, considering there are half a dozen ways around it, including a couple free alternatives.
