migrating to a new Mac...

Just talk about kJams stuff with each other, describe things you did that worked, talk about your setup, anything that doesn't fit into the other forums!

migrating to a new Mac...

Post by cstanyer »

I've just bought a new Macbook Pro, is there an easy way to migrate my Kjams across from my old Macbook? I don't have a firewire cable that will connect the two, I have passed the application across using drop box, but it doesn't contain references to all my cdg files (which are stored on an external hard disk). Is there a solution?

Thanks,
Chris.

Wow, Chris, I'm going through the exact same thing right now. I initially used the migrate tools, and everything worked pretty good. I was able to see the files on my external just fine. However, I also had my kJams Music folder on the external.

My problems began when trying to migrate everything on the external onto my new Mac - I ended up having to re-add all my cd+g files, and am now working through some issues with music that I ripped.

It really depends on where everything was and how you put it there - and while there may be an easy solution, from my experience, I wouldn't make any guarantees. Dave is certainly willing to help, though - which still sets this software far apart from any other I've had dealings with.

Feel free to search my last couple weeks of messages if you want to see how things are going for me.

you should plug in an ethernet cable then

should be drag and droppy to get it going, as long as things keep the same name (same user name, same hard drive name)
