I don't know why the notifier is not telling me when people make a new post, something is skwewey with the notifier. sorry it took so long for me to notice this! Anyway, the deal is you have to click AND THEN NOT MOVE for about a second and a half, and only THEN does it go into "rename" mode. If you...

powerbook drives
as mentioned in the Drive Compatibility section, the ONLY original powerbook drive that seems to work comes in the MacBook Pro, called "HL-DT-ST DVDRW GWA4080M". Your very best bet is to personally go to your local Apple store and try kJams on their floor model, or look in Profiler to see if it's go...

yes there is no way to "batch paste" meta info, sorry. but you can select one song, then command-click the other (now they're both selected) then get info, the info that shows up is from the first song. say you want to copy the track name to the second song, just check the box next to it and hit oka...

midi
the midi data does get "converted" when you play it, but the files on disk are not touched. when you play a midi file, the audio gets extracted to "pcm" data, which is an uncompressed audio waveform. I simply ask the QT synth to provide me the waveform data. i do this so i can optionally run it thru...

good question!
Yes you caught me! MPEG1 and 2 files have what is called "muxed" audio, that is the audio stream is actually interleaved within the video stream (as opposed to keeping it in a separate stream). anyway long story short i'm working on it. if you *really* want them to work now, you'll have to demux the...

the "arbitrary custom columns" feature includes this. you'll be able to *make up* any kind of "column" to view in any playlist. that includes color, or a popup menu, or a number, or a string, or whatever you want. so yes, you'll be able to do this soon, when i finish the "custom columns" feature, wh...

answers
1) yes, but it is becoming less of an issue.

2) yes, just as long as the track title+album name+artist are unique before you rip. Best to get them as correct as you can.
3) OggVorbis/Best if you like to stay away from MP3, else use MP3/Best
