Re: What equipment do you use?

As to the Peavey Combo 300 bass amp/cabinet: It should have a 15" Peavey Black Widow speaker in it. These are really good speakers, although I prefer the Peavey Scorpion for live sound (and guitar amps) Using the amp probably won't help you much - it's really meant for bass guitar, not full live sou...

Re: First search takes forever

Got it. Had "Publisher" column included on Library view. I do use this meta, and want to keep it updated, especially when adding new songs, but I think I can compromise and only have that column switched on in sub-playlists. (Or, just be aware that I have to cache it at the beginning when doing my w...

First search takes forever

Well, not forever. I just tried it, and it took roughly ten minutes. :? So, steps to reproduce: Open kJams (task window empty) type in search phrase (I just used Power Of Love for my 10 minute search) wait. (task window shows Filtering, progress bar moving very slowly. All other program UI is frozen...

Oh, and don't take my word for it - here's a good PA system buying guide from Musician's Friend.

Re: What equipment do you use?

I'm gonna plug my Peavy PR15's for speakers. ... One other point: make sure you're getting equipment that fits your vehicle. I'm almost currently maxed out in my Galant with the PA in there. One reason I don't have a sub is that I don't have any room left in the car. Good plug - sorry I left Peavey...

Re: What equipment do you use?

Well, experience has taught most of us to be very wary of power ratings, especially on speakers. As I mentioned earlier, JBL speakers are generally over-rated, so if you actually power them according to the rating, they will burn up. Unfortunately, same can go for amps - no matter how official looki...

Re: Cue Mode

Yeah, that's the idea - I already use USB sound for kJams, and the headphone output (default Mac sound) for music. Some USB and firewire sound appliances offer two or more outputs on their own also. I could easily move to running firewire sound for kJams, USB sound for music, and the headphone outpu...

Cue Mode

Here's another crazy idea from me - Borrowing from other dj software, could we have a cue mode? This would basically allow us to play a track *while the rotation is playing live* and re-direct it to a second audio output (headphones). The video would either appear in the Artwork window or in a secon...

Sweet - that might go on my "to buy" list - I could use a USB port freed up to run a webcam.

I really want to try the whole video behind lyrics thing live soon.

Re: What equipment do you use?

Good to know. :)

I suppose I assumed that because it seemed those units always came with a fancy software pack. My bad - they've done the same thing with pointing devices for years and years.

Re: DVI adaptor

Yes, mini-displayPort to vga adapter, then a scan converter. For scan converter, I recommend the kworld PC to TV box. I use it, and haven't had any issues so far. Also, it's USB powered, so no need for additional room on the power strip.

I think it cost about $50 at Fry's.

Re: What equipment do you use?

Yes, less latency for firewies audio, but more $? I also use a behringer usb audio device, it cost about $30. I looked at the MOTU that you use, it's MSRP is around $500 to $600, if I remember. Also, I believe you have to run additional software to use firewire audio, where USB audio is natively sup...

I bet he means having the option to copy the files into the kJams music folder.

We've certainly been down this discussion before, and I think it's on the list somewhere.

Re: Rotation skips songs

Tried this, failed to reproduce. Thinking through this, perhaps is it the last singer in the list to be affected instead of the first? If the first and last have no songs, and the last adds a song, would it be skipped? I'm thinking this because I have often been the one skipped, and as host, I tend ...
