kJams does not run on the iPod, it only exports a movie, that you play on the iPod.

I'm quite confident that all older Plextor models *can* read and write CD+G format, so yes i recommend going that route.

And it's perfectly reasonable to use an "internal" drive as an external drive, with the appropriate $12 adapter.
