kjams install
simply search your hard drive for "kJams". I do not install any secret files or folders. Everything that is installed is labeled with the word "kJams" to facilitate easy removal. Be warned: If you delete everything, you'll also delete your serial number (registration), you should back it up and rest...
sounds complicated
If it sounds complicated, then you are thinking too much. If the user simply installed the app, did NOT tweak the preferences, and tried to play a CD, it would automatically have detected the player would not work, and simply told the user "incompatable drive". The problem came up *because* the user...

Universal Binary
Unfortunately, kJams is NOT compatible with Rosetta :( Good news is, however, I have spent some weeks transferring my development environment to XCode, and I am now able to compile and run! When I actually have time, it may now take me only a couple full days to turn out the Universal Binary version...

missing tracks
Yes, yes, i am terribly sorry about that, this is a known issue, i'm having a hell of a time finding time to fix this. I'm very sorry, i'm quite embarrassed that this bug has been in there for so long and keeps biting people. I know in general what is wrong and I most certainly will fix it. It may t...
black video
This will only happen if you have gone to Preferences->Import and checked "Ignore CDG ripping errors (black video is OK)", please turn that off and notice what happens. Basically it's probably the case that you do not have a compatable CD drive. Check the FAQ for the list of compatable drives and my...

CD+G Drive Compatability
Unfortunately, on OS X, I have not written a custom driver (kernel extension) to access the hardware directly, I am relying on the IOKit provided by apple, which means I can only read CD+G discs using drives that support reading that format in hardware. Fortunately, it's a pretty broad range of hard...

start over with CD meta info
yes, kJams caches CD info in the "kJams CDs" folder. To see which file in that folder refers to a particular CD, run kJams and put the CD in. Then, double click the CD and change something, eg: set the year or change a character somewhere. Then hit OK, then either wait a few seconds (for auto save) ...

kar files
kJams will eventually support KAR files, which are MIDI files that have text in them, in addition to any other QuickTime format. there is software already out there that can help you create sync'd text files and output them in quicktime format. it's rather a long shot that this would get built into ...

questions
You can not permanantly change the pitch of a song (yet) unless the song lives under a singer. For your Dad, make a singer for him, and put all his favorites into his favorites folder. if that's the entire library so be it. then change the pitches in his favorites folder, and play the songs from the...

CD+G Format
"isn't the cdg file essentially some binary formatted file, containing time-stamped phrases?" No, it contains tiled-bitmaps, there is no text in a CD+G file. The "text to binary conversion tool" would be quite a hack indeed, if someone does it, they'll make some money. Actually I plan to one day whe...

create CDG's
Sort answer: you can't Long answer: well, the *most* convenient way is to get a new MacBook (intel CPU) and get one of the many fine windows emulators (which can now run at full speed), (eg: parallels ) then boot into windows, and then use one of the CDG creator programs for windows: http://www.powe...
