Re: iJams
The database programs I was using (and still have) are HanDBase, SmartList To Go, FileMaker for Palm, etc. All work reasonably well, but I believe it has been a while since they have been supported or updated. I believe they all work by importing comma-separated or tab-delimited exports of songlists ...
Re: iJams
None taken. I was just clarifying as well. It's just that I first had this idea about 5 or 6 years ago so am glad to see it work for Mac (I have seen a similar program a California KJ & software/hardware developer made and implemented for PC's about 3 years ago).
Re: iJams
If you were like The Most Awesome KJ In The World™ , you would ditch the Palms on eBay and get a few of the lowest-end iPod Touch's. THEN you'd be future-proof, and word would spread about your Awesome factor.

Re: Song book Generator
Yes, there will always be a need for physical books, especially for situations with crowds less technologically inclined or lacking handheld devices. But I stopped printing long ago... of course I was using one-sided fluorescent color coded paper as well as the costs of printing, heavy duty binder ...

Re: Song book Generator
Well it's not so necessary in your case as long as people have clean, distinguishable and clear layouts to choose from kJams. Plus, with iJams the point is not to have to print, and re-print and maintain and collect and carry big heavy song books! I was mostly commenting because you had mentioned ...

Re: What kind of set-up do I need?
Probably. And besides, you did say that I can convert my original .ktp files into CD+G's with Producer (if I understood you correctly) which any KJ can play.
Re: iJams
I am really interested in iJams too! I remember, a few years ago I talked to Dave when I was working on a system of having digital song books that don't need printing or carrying with easy updating and searching and sorting. I had purchased a bunch of second-hand Palm Tungsten handhelds all with ...

Re: Song book Generator
I put a lot of money and time into full-color song books back in 2000 when I started KJ'ing. I originally created the songbook database in AppleWorks as it can hold several thousand songs (records). I used different layout for Title, Artist and even Year. It worked great. I especially liked the ...

Re: What kind of set-up do I need?
The question then is, what is more likely: Someone to be running a DVD player or a CD+G player (or computer) with DVD capability or someone with easy access to both separate AUX video and audio inputs (or else using a Mac to connect the iPod to)?

Thanks Dave. Was just by chance a friend I hadn't seen was finally available and I forgot on Thursday. But this time I wrote it down; got you in for 9PM PDT/MST Tuesday.

Re: What kind of set-up do I need?
Well there are some karaoke instrumentals that need the graphics (like the old karaoke CD's I have from the early 1990's), but don't knock all [vocal suppression] techniques. Some songs with lead vocals recorded entirely in the central channel [will suppress] unbelievable well, while the music and ...

...use zip files, they save space and take practically zero time to unzip, even on older computers.
Well that's just it... I can't use zip files as I explained when ripping, because the "zip files when ripping" option isn't working as I explained above. I'm confused about what you mean by the ...

Oh okay...
You answered my question from the other thread. I can convert my original TunePrompter creations to CD+G and burn to disc as long as I have the original .ktp file... cool!

Re: What kind of set-up do I need?
You'll have more luck burning a DVD of your own stuff, most karaoke hosts have DVD players now, or should. But most are hesitant to plug an ipod into their video mixer. worst-case you can burn your stuff to a CD+G disc, and that's still a pretty good case.
I believe that. I guess I was unclear if ...

Re: What kind of set-up do I need?
Oh true, and I probably will. But also am hoping I can use iPod Classic or iPod Touch or iPhone etc. in the future for that too. Plus, I don't need to bring my own stuff now that shows have tens of thousands of songs on hand using computers instead of discs. I really want to be able to work on ...
