I discovered a nice work-around for these type of discs - the problem is they aren't true CDG format discs - they are hybrids intended to basically prevent computer copying I think.
But I remembered an old trick I read about on the handy interweb. :)
Take one of these discs (preferably start with ...

Sorry for the late reply, Dr. Video, but here's a couple quick pointers, and a resource that might help:
1) Any public performance of music by copyrighted artists requires the owner of the establishment to negotiate a license from ASCAP, BMI, and/or SESAC. This is to ensure payment of royalties to ...

Test file
You don't even have to take Dave's word for it, test the CAVs site out yourself - at the top of the page is a sample file (Jingle Bells). It's a short download.
Just download the file, open KJams, and add the downloaded file into your library. It plays just fine. You don't even need to unzip it! So ...

Not much out there
Yeah, the basic reality is that the big (and better quality) companies do not want to sell individual songs a la carte.
There are now a few of the Karaoke companies that sell customized discs where you can assemble your tracks and have them custom-burn it for you. But the cost is generally very ...

No experience with the company
Sorry, no experience with the company or that particular model, but I got a Plextor 740uf (usb2 AND firewire, switchable) for less than that from Newegg.com.
As a nice bonus, it came with a free box of 20 blank DVD-R's! It also came with a USB cable, although no Firewire cable. Still, I think my ...

video filler
Another simple use of the "filler" video between songs would be to list the upcoming 2 or 3 singers.
It may be simple enough to do this manually with a text crawl, but it could be a total "killer" feature if you had a simple "Marquee" screen where the user entered in the Preferences a special ...

well..
I guess what I'm saying is that - at least for now (and this is no disrespect intended to your development efforts, Dave!) there are two reasons I prefer Megaseg, all your features notwithstanding:
1) Often I am running "mixed" shows, where there is some Karaoke, and some straight DJ work. Often ...

Hello again!
Ok, so I quickly capitulated and purchased KJams Lite after trying it out with my new Plextor External drive.
Now the question is how to integrate a show. Right now I am extremely reliant on MegaSeg - I use it for virtually everything in my DJ shows, and I would like to see about ...

Yer a genius
Anyone ever tell you that? Never would have thought to clear my Safari cache for a download like that, even though it seems obvious now that you mention it.
Sure, enough all good. Thanks!
And congrats on getting the program(s) up to what looks to be Alpha status. I've been following this for a ...

Pro .zip corrupted
Hi, Dave - it seems that the KJams Pro file currently posted is a bad zip..
The Lite version downloaded and unzipped just fine, but the Pro version won't go, and I've tried using the Mac's unarchive helper (BOM), Stuffit 10.0.2, and Stuffit 11.
Just thought I'd let you know. Looking forward to ...
