Oh...dear!
I had almost the sam scenario again last night. I got locked volume messages and one stating there was a "Quick Time Error" and that there was "no such volume".
Again it was a warm night and the problem arose around an hour into the show. I wonder whether my MacBookPro or the external ...

Re: Laptop PC spec to run kJams for Windows
Thanks for the advice, Dave. I'm still deciding what to do hardware wise.
If possible to do so, can the files be copied and converted to another drive altogether e.g. a blank one, whilst leaving the existing Apple Lossless files in place on the original drive? I had a really bad experience ...

Re: Backing Up External HDD, UPS
Thanks Dave, as ever.
Sorry to be dumm, but are you saying that not only can I use Time Machine to backup the contents of my internal drive to an external backup drive (as I do now), but also it will enable me to backup my main external drive that stores all my music files to another external HDD ...

Backing Up External HDD, UPS
Hi,
I run my show from a MacBookPro and external HDD, and in the last few days had cause to regret not having a stronger disaster recovery plan
Periodically I copy my music collection across to one of a couple of backup drives, but it takes several hours to do this completely as there's ...

Laptop PC spec to run kJams for Windows
Hi All,
I had a bad crash at a gig on Saturday night. This has highlighted my exposure to hardware faults and it's time to consider a complete backup system as a matter of urgency.
Dave's close to releasing kJams for Windows, so it looks like a really reliable laptop PC might make a more cost ...

System Crash
Hi All,
I was gigging on Saturday and my system crashed whilst starting a song off. I use an external HDD and connect my MacBookPro into my offboard digital mixer (soundcard!) and then to the external HDD all via Firewire. I was using MegaSeg and also had stickies open at the time. My version of ...

Avoiding Pitfalls When Converting to Apple Lossless
Hi, and Happy New Year to all karaoke folk!
I recently caused myself major problems trying to convert a large karaoke song library to lossless - mainly through ignorance.
The conversion process crashed part way through. I then discovered that the converted files and some copies of the originals ...
