Search by column broken

on a1r3 , searching by column is broken. Any time I input a colon (ie - "song name:" or "artist:"), i get the following assert fails: Assert Fail: it != i_recList.end(), in file '/users/davec/ Developer/depot/kJams/Development/ source/ Music/CSearchManager.cpp' at line 224 and Assert Fail: it != i_r...

Re: time searching for songs?

Ummm... Did anyone besides me notice that the question wasn't actually answered?

Oh, and it doesn't need to mix drinks - I host in pubs.

Re: New Singer Jumps Straight To The Top

Personally, I just cap my first rotation at about 10-12 people, then alternate new and returning singers for subsequent rotations. It gets new singers in relatively quickly, but lets the folks who've been waiting for another song (and not-so-incidentally spending money at the bar) know that they're ...

Re: time searching for songs?

Sorry about bumping the thread again, but I'm curious if *any* progress has been made on the SQL front.

I hate to harp on it, but search times are the only glaring issue left, IMHO, in what is otherwise an absolutely stellar app.

Re: time searching for songs?

Just thought I'd give thread a bump, and see if we could get an update on the state of the SQL. Is it any closer to being stable enough for "prime-time"? Jon P.S. - I'd love to help with the "sooper sekrit" testing, but my patrons would come unglued if I were forced to stop my show in order to switc...

Re: My Dream App: "iJams KJ"

Also, I'm not just talking about play/pause and changing volume, pitch and tempo. I want something I can use to arrange my rotation, search, rearrange a singer's songs - the whole enchilada.

Re: My Dream App: "iJams KJ"

Just use a remote desktop app like WisePC to mirror your desktop onto the iPad. I use this to control kJams with my iPhone. Every remote desktop app I've tried is just too laggy to be useable. What I'm talking about is an app that has it's own UI that is populated by kJams, and is customized for to...

Re: Songbook Software

The webserver interface can be a bit difficult to navigate using a phone, due to size, layout and, IIRC, some controls. Maybe someone could come up with a "mobile web" variant? Let the device's browser decide which version to use. Also, if you've a dynamic ip address from the bar wi-fi, patrons can'...

My Dream App: "iJams KJ"

I'd like to see either Dave or the iJams dev come up with a KJ-focused app in the vein of iJams. Imagine being able to run your show from an iPad at the other end of the bar. I know that there are VNC and remote desktop apps already, but the amount of lag makes them unsuitable. But what if you weren...

Re: Black TV Screens at start of show

Oddly enough, I don't think there's an actual problem here, precisely. This happens to me all the time - it's just the Video window going to fullscreen automatically on kJams startup. It generally works that way for me, as long as: a) I didn't close the Video window (or detach the second monitor) be...

Re: time searching for songs?

Outstanding! I'll be looking forward to it, whenever it finally happens.

For the record, I hope I didn't sound impatient - I just figured that everyone was wanting to know, so thought I'd bite the bullet and actually ask.

Re: time searching for songs?

So how is the SQL transition coming, anyway?

It's been a month since you mentioned it in the blog, so I was wondering if we could get a "State of the SQL" address?

Re: Toggle for Preview pane

A different way to get around the ShowScreen problem people are having would be to come up with a way to put them on a timer. Maybe a pref to set duration, and a hotkey modifier to invoke the timer? That way, they'd only run for a few seconds then fade out on their own.

Re: bitmapped font

Do you mean that the lyrics are pixelated on your MacBook's screen? If that's the case, it's not your shiny new Mac's fault... but unfortunately, there's not a whole lot you can do about it. The average cdg/mp3+g video track is relatively low-resolution (around 800x600 IIRC - maybe even less), and i...

Re: ijams with the new OS4

On a possibly related note, I've had some (very) sporadic crashes in kJams, and the only possible connection I've been able to find is that someone was making an iJams search on a iPhone 4. Since I was also running a search myself at the time of each crash, perhaps it was something that I did, but I...
