Venues Temp

A kJams venue is a location, such as a particular karaoke bar, that has its own unique set of singers. Even though a venue usually represents a physical location, the key point here is that venues distinguish groups of singers. For example, let’s say you’re a KJ who works at one location, but the singers who show up on Tuesday night are not the same singers who show up on Friday night. (Okay, not likely. But you get the idea.) In this case, you could set up a Tuesday Night venue and a Friday Night venue. Or say you’re an amateur KJ who puts on shows in your own home, as well as at your neighbor’s house. You have two locations, but it’s the same set of singers. In this case, you really need only one venue. Got it? The idea is, when you click on a particular venue, you immediately see a list of singers who are likely to show up.

For the professional KJ, it’s not always this straightforward. Dedicated karaoke singers often show up at more than one venue. In this case, singers can be moved or aliased between venues using the Finder. For example, if Dave shows up at Venue A, and also frequents Venue B, you can make an alias for Dave in Venue A, and place it in the Venue B folder. You can rename the alias so it does not collide with someone already at Venue B. When a singer modifies their Favorites or Tonight list from the alias, it actually modifies the original, so when they go back to Venue A, all their changes show up there too.

Note → kJams Pro comes with a default venue, simply called Singers. This is useful for the single-venue user. You can rename the Singer venue to anything you like. And you can still add other venues later on without any problem.

When you go to File → Venue, you have the option to add or delete venues, plus you can see all of your existing venues. When you first install kJams Pro, the only venue listed is Singers. Each time you add a venue, it will show up on this list.

To set up a new venue:

  1. File → Venue → New Venue
  2. Once the venue appears in your source list, rename it. (At this point, the venue is empty. It has no singers associated with it.)

To access a venue:

  1. File → Venue
  2. Select the name of the venue.
  3. The venue shows up under Source (where your playlists normally appear), along with all of the singers associated with that venue.

To delete a venue:

  1. File → Venue
  2. Select the name of the venue.
  3. Pay attention to the warning: deleting a venue deletes the singers associated with that venue. If you are sure about this, press delete.
