Mute mic between songs?

Is there any way to have the microphone auto-mute between songs and only un-mute once a song plays?

I'm having a few folks over to my home this weekend and want to leave the system up-and-running for anyone to jump on at any time, but without auto-muting mic capability I'll have to leave instructions by the stereo (which I didn't want to do).

not built in but you could script it.

It matters because when my laptop sitting next to the stereo isn't being manned and is in between singers, when someone walks by or is chatting next to it, it's sent through the speakers!

well, if you're interested in:
1) python scripting and
2) upgrading to 2.0

i just completed enough of that such that you could script the muting of the mic when no song is playing.

yes, well, in ten years i have had exactly one request for that, so, it's on the list, but it's pretty low.

but you CAN script it right now, which puts it on the "it has a work around" list, which lowers the priority even further.

also, generally, people hook a mic up to a mixer, not directly to the computer.

if you need help making that script let me know, tho the iTunes crossfader script should give you a pretty good start

I'll check out that script and see what I can do, but I'm drastically short on time this week.

Will the script work with kJams Lite? I'm a home user and using a USB mic...no mixer here!

it will NOT work on kJams Lite.

on Mac, it will work on kJams Pro (via applescript)
on Mac or Windows, it will work on kJams 2 (via Python)

but only if you write the script (since it has not been written)
