Adding files to Library - interpretation temperamental

Post by haunted1 »

Hi all,

This is a great little forum, I've been learning lots and everyone is so helpful.

I come up on a slight problem when I add files to the library.

I have various files named in this format:

SF 018-1-Martha & The Vandellas-Third Finger Left Hand.cdg
SF 018-1-Martha & The Vandellas-Third Finger Left Hand.mp3

But the interpretation for this (L-T-R-S) is sometimes greyed out. When It wasn't greyed, I added the folder of songs and some came in blank.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Many thanks for any help you can give,

Haunted1

not named properly

that's because some songs have spaces around the dashes and some don't. ie:

album-trk-artist-song

is NOT the same thing as

album-trk - artist - song

see the spaces around the dashes?

Thanks for the reply,

I have checked the file names and they all have dashes without spaces. this is the contents of the folder I'm trying to add:

SF 018-1-Martha & The Vandellas-Third Finger Left Hand.cdg
<snip>
SF 018-15-Jackie Wilson-I Get The Sweetest Feeling.mp3

They dont have a space/spaces next to the dash but I'm only able to choose.

S
/R/S/L
/R/L/S
/L/R/S

(Not sure if it makes any differance but the path of the folder is /Music/Sunfly Karaoke/SF 018)

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Many thanks

If the file name doesn't match a template then the template won't be enabled. Press the edit button and make a template that matches the songs. In this case your template would be:

L-T-R-S

with no spaces

wow such a quick reply, thanks.

I have added that template to the list but it looks like the list isn't updating.

I just added L-T-R-S to the bottom of the list and then clicked save, do I need to reboot for kjams to see the amended templates?

Cheers,

no, just switch back into kJams, and the list is updated. Make sure the last template has a carriage return after it!
