Supported Drive

Post by cohnhead »

Is there a reason that the plextor 760A has to be connected to a drive dock? Would it work with any external enclosure? I would be connecting it to my G4 Powerbook.

Thanks

any dock will do

No reason. You can use whatever enclosure you like, as long as it's FireWire or USB2. Do not not not use USB1, it will make you pull your hair out with slowness.

I see that MTU make an external enclosure and sell the Plextor 760.

Anyone have experiences with this unit or the company ?

No experience with the company

Sorry, no experience with the company or that particular model, but I got a Plextor 740uf (usb2 AND firewire, switchable) for less than that from Newegg.com.

As a nice bonus, it came with a free box of 20 blank DVD-R's! It also came with a USB cable, although no Firewire cable. Still, I think my total came to $130 with shipping.

MTU is a reputable company, and yes, their plextor drive will most certainly work.
