Key Changer plugin

Just talk about kJams stuff with each other, describe things you did that worked, talk about your setup, anything that doesn't fit into the other forums!

Dave, does this mean you are switching from using the AU plug in, or just that you fixed the aforementioned bug?
Also, if you are switching plug-ins, will this be canonical, or will there be a preference to chose? Just curious.

no, this "Wave SoundShifter" plugin *is* an AudioUnit plugin, only on the mac. it will be used if it's available, otherwise the built in AUTimePitch is used. There is a secret pref to turn it off however, "Use Wave SoundShifter for key changes (no tempo changing)"

Thought I had typed "the current AU plugin", but cool, that answers my question.
So the new plugin is used by default.

Hi Dave -- so far so good, its sounding very very smooth through headphones, i will have the full PA setup on Saturday where it will show its true colours lol. Many thanks for this help, it really is truly appreciated. Later today, I'm gonna set up my two MacBooks side by side with an older version of KJams on one and the new on the other to compare through my studio monitors. Must admit, the one song that really showed the artefacts was alone by heart, and i have just transposed it down 6 where even the best of plugins would have made some noticeable rumbles, but i can't hear anything so far through my headphones :)

thanks again for all your help

I have been experiencing the same issue, also on OSX (El Capitan).
Been a long time paid user of the pro version.

Has it been included in the latest official build?

Thanks,
Eric

The difference is night and day. i have been checking just in my studio at the moment to compare, but the new plugin is miles better than the existing one. Got a 5 hour gig on sunday so will comment back when i see how it sounds through the big PA.

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave i see from the latest release (1.0.2b8)
the "WAVE SoundShifter" plugin use defaults to OFF not ON, cuz it confuses people
I checked my preferences and see that both Au and sounshifter are set to True
<key>Use Apple AUTimePitch for pitch bending</key>
<true/>
<key>Use Wave SoundShifter for key changes (no tempo changing)</key>
<true/>
How can i guarantee my system is set to use the sound shifter one rather than AU?

Thanks again

SoundShifter overrides AU, so if it's present and turned ON, it will be used.
you can see if it will be used if you hold OPTION while you go to prefs, then you'll see a "secret" pref panel with that option
