General help with Mac Problem
General help with Mac Problem
I Know this is not a kJams issue but I'm hoping someone will be able to help me
I was presenting karaoke at a venue where everything is built in using a Mini Mac.I have the karaoke on just one monitor at this venue. I use Quick keys to operate iTunes whilst presenting and I've created a shortcut to stop and start itunes using Quick Keys and that is ctrl+spacebar. When i clicked ctrl+spacebar I think my fingers hit something else because my desktop and monitor seemed to become one giant screen. I checked System Prefs and I couldn't see any change there but it was difficult to check because navigating around was not easy. I ended up shutting the Mini Mac down and when I re-started everything went back to normal. But about an hour before I finished it happened again, I didn't need to shut down this time because I found that I could move the whole "one screen" across by moving my mouse across the monitor to the edge of the screen and the karaoke words moved into view. the words were bigger that normal
When I checked System prefs the screens were not mirrored.

Re: General help with Mac Problem
i'm confused by this, first you say "just one monitor", then you say "my desktop and monitor". so which is it? do you have one monitor? or two?
Re: General help with Mac Problem
Yep, sorry about the confusion, I've got a monitor for me to enable me to operate the programs etc, and a TV for the punters to see the words
Re: General help with Mac Problem
can you describe what you mean by "become one giant screen"? the way i interpret that is "mirroring is not turned on", ie: extended desktop. the video window is full screen on the 2nd monitor, while the menu bar and browser window are on the main screen.
do you mean everything was magnified or zoomed in?
do you mean everything was magnified or zoomed in?
Re: General help with Mac Problem
It was like the TV was an extension of the computer monitor But I had not turned mirror screens on or off, I hadn't been in System Prefs. Everything was zoomed in also. Half of my desk top was on the TV including the menu bar, with the words for the karaoke pushed halfway off the TV
Before it want like this I was running a normal karaoke show with my monitor for the progs and the TV just used for the words.

Re: General help with Mac Problem
yeah you were zoomed in. just zoom out, command option minus.
go to apple menu->system preferences->universal access->seeing

Re: General help with Mac Problem
It is happening because you are hitting the ^ key and then scrolling!!!
^ scroll does the same thing as ⌘⌥- and ⌘⌥+.
You just need to hold the control key and scroll the other way.

Thanks DeusExMachina
I couldn't figure how I'd done it but it happened again today and I then realised that as I'd used a shortcut that involved the ctrl key, the magic mouse that I use was close enough to touch with my finger and hence the zooming.

That's what she said.
