Re: Adding new singer randomly causes delay
2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Du0 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM OS X 10.5.7 The only apps I run during a show are kJams, iTunes, and Safari. I keep all up to date, usually only a couple days behind releases (to make sure there aren't any major issues with the Apple releases). kJmas specs: 4377 songs 266 Singers in...

Adding new singer randomly causes delay
I have noticed variable delays of more than 10 seconds at times when I do the following: click on the venue (in the left-hand column of the browser window) to get the list of singers; add a new singer to my admittedly long list (230+) On a couple of occasions, it's taken so long that I began to wond...
Re: Wishlist
Ahhh...I see...the wishlist does break when tricerasoft updates what they push out. Guess it worked because I updated, did the wishlist thing, then updated again and checked it right away. Oh well. At least I know WHY it won't work. Using the placeholder functionality (that I knew about from reading...
Wishlist
So the printed Tricerasoft list got me thinking...if I could make a unique playlist, then I could surely make a wishlist playlist. That way, when I was purusing the catalog looking for songs, if I found one that I liked but didn't want to buy yet, I could set it aside. Tried it, it works, survives a...

Re: Singer folder exists, singer does not
First thing to do is to make a duplicate of those singer folders and put them somewhere they won't get overwritten, like on your desktop. That way during the trouble-shooting/fixing portion of the procedure, there won't be any accidents that cause you to lose data. As far as the fix...it involved tr...

How to kill a successful show
1. Give it five years on Thursday night, let it get really popular 2. Wait for the end of the school year 3. Move it to the slowest night of the week (Saturday, oddly enough) 4. Move it to a space 10 times as big 5. Force it to work around already scheduled events (some weeks it's on, some it's not)...

Re: Question of CDG compatability
Don't know, but all of these should work:
http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q= ... &scoring=p
And, it looks like the first few are drives without cases. If I understand correctly, any drive with "Lightscribe" should be compatible with CD-Gs and kJams.

Re: How many songs make a decent collection?
I like that idea. I might give that a shot tonight.I also keep a collection of funny radio commercials to play to fill the gap between singers.. a good example would be those Bud Light Real Men of Genius radio spots.
Re: iJams
Oh no, you misunderstand...I think it's cool you're using the Tungstens. I was ONLY talking about Dave's idea of buying iPod touches to let people use at shows. I should have been clearer. Even the cheapest ones I could find. The "not suitable for grade school use" remark was referring to old surplu...
Re: iJams
 ...that sounds like a recipe for being named The Most Naive KJ In The World™ . How could you possibly keep people from stealing them. At least with surplus pcs that aren't even fit for re-use in grade schools you're putting out something that nobody wants to steal. Hey, I don't suppose you c...

Re: What kind of set-up do I need?
Probably. And besides, you did say that I can convert my original .ktp files into CD+G's with Producer (if I understood you correctly) which any KJ can play. Even then you're back to talking about "most" KJs. If someone shows up with a CDG at my shows now, they're out of luck. I don't bring a drive...

Shift-Command-F for Music Store
I love Shift-Command-F. I use this more than any other command in kJams. If only there were a Shift-Command-G for immediately searching the Music Store, or for rolling the search I just performed into the Music Store. i.e., Shift-Command-F "Paper Planes" turns up nothing in the Library, so I hit Shi...

Re: Favorite Features
Shift-Command-F Being able to search my library in less than 2 seconds for whatever song I'm being asked about is the best time saver ever. I can give people an answer by the time they're done asking the question a lot of times. No less important than this, but less-used, is the power of set-and-for...

Re: What kind of set-up do I need?
I've been thinking about the iPod issue...I could do it pretty easily if I'm someplace with my PA but not so easy if I'm on the built-in one at my main venue. And frankly, I'd sooner plug that in for someone than mess with a DVD in my laptop.

Re: List of Songs Sung
That's a pretty interesting list. I can't believe that you have MIA's Paper Planes, though. I'd shoot myself before I put that in my system for people to sing. LOL. I cringe every time I hear Straight to Hell by the Clash because I'm afraid it's Paper Planes. I keep forgetting about the Outfield's "...
